i just purchased a 2010 250r but man that rear 130/170 tire is killing me and that rear swing arm looks wimpy and. i seen most bikes from Malaysia have the rear swing arm conversion what parts are you guys using and how hard is the labor thanks

hi bro, most of the bike in malaysia used a rear swing arm condom so that the looks similar to big bike's.
You can look at my bike on my avatar (hope it's not too small:p ) ...i assume that's the look you're looking for...

yes I'm trying to achieve that big bike look but also functionality like a big tire in the rear like a 180 or even a 190 but i think I'm going to try to squeez a 160 /60 in the rear would it fit

hi bro, we're not from malaysia, they're our neighbor, we're from INDONESIA here. And in fact lots of Malaysian N250r were also importing parts like that rear hugger and swing arm condom from us in Indonesia

If you use only the rearhugger and swingarm condom from SportisimotoUSA, then the biggest tire that you could use would be 160/60, but best 150/60 due to the standard rim size. If the tire is too big, then it would be 'donut' shaped and not very good for handling, well also the look is not that nice anymore
So, if you want to use that big bikes tire of 180 - 190 sizes, you would have to change the arm and also rim....lots of works to do..he..he...
My bike used 150/60 battlax bt-03 tire and 120/60 on front.... it grips nice to the road, corner well... i guess the handling is not just a matter of bigger size, but the setting of the shocks, riders ability, and brand/quality of the tires itself...

Have you opened the site? there's a picture of n250 full body kit in there, Matt's bike... if you see that, i don't think it differs much from big bike looks

But anyway, mate, u can either go to "Lapak Bursa" and then go to either "Bursa barang bekas" or "Bursa Aftermarket". You can most def find used or brand new swing arms there. There's this guy (forgot his name or id) in this forum that's got R1 swing arm installed on his 250R and I reckon the owner is using 160 rear tire. It kinda gives tougher looks on his ninja, I think u can check out his bike on Forum>Foto Ninja 250 milik member and then browse and look for "black punisher ninja" or something like that...

Mate, u wanna do it all urself? I reckon its better to get it done by a custom shop...unless, u mere wanna get the rear hugger installed, I'm sure someone's here can tell u all the steps to install it ;-)

yeah I'm into cars and most of the things on my crx are modified by me all done at home i own a great amount of tools that would get the job done and one of my buddies works at a machine shop/ plus my uncle owns a lathe to get some work done on

nice bro!... but then i'm not qualified to give you an instruction on that, as most of the work on my bike now and previously were all done by mechanics and shops

some people in this forum is from custom shops or modificators, so..hopefully they read your thread and post something to help you out

swing arm conversions needs to be done by those who are specialist at custom modding or at least they have a heavy duty steel cutting/welding machinery and have experience using it..

for instance i swapped my Ninja's arm to a 600 Gixxer arm..

in my understanding, what is done in general is we carve the head holder of the Gixxer arm to fit in the Ninja frame..
carving the arm is not about just carving, it needs precision and alignment so after installing the arm, the wheel is always at center. and so for the chain as well..
once the Arm is installed, then make a custom link to connect the arm to the shock & unitrack.

creating these custom parts use high quality built steel so it wont break/crack during recoiling of the shocks.

there is no instruction or tutorials on these things, but thats how roughly how its done...

if your bike is still new, the tires are quite slippery, but it's not permanent, only at first 150 km, then it will give more grip. when the tire is still new, the tire is covered by some candle tissue, which make it slippery.
or you can change your tires like mine, i use bridgestone battlax bt 92 150/60 and 120/60. it gives me a nice grip :d

dude, do you really want to change your swing arms? or do you just want to make em look big? cause in sportisi usa you can just buy a set of rear hugger that acts like a "condom" to your original swing arm, that makes it look less wimpy and kinda bigger.

but if you want to convert swing arms from other motorcycles, and replacing your original swing arms, thats gonna be a hard task. you have to measure so your tires will always be at the center and all that stuff

there are several english forum namely kawiforum and ninjette forum for kawasaki ninja 250.
they discuss the same old thing here.

using stock rims will not gonna fit 180 or 190 tire, most people here use 150/60 for the rear tire.

you mean how to install swing arm hugger?
if you have the service manual for the ninja 250r there is a section to remove rear tire and chain guard.
